Hi, I’m Giancarlo Fortuna — an Italian photographer born in Turin, now based in Sagres, Portugal.

Four years ago, I left my job in Italy searching for new passions, and photography found me. It started with a friend asking for help capturing surf schools — I picked up a camera, and something just clicked. What began as a simple favour soon became both a passion and a profession.

Today, photography gives me the freedom to shape my time, explore the world, and document life’s beautiful moments. Sagres stole my heart, while I’m mostly based there, I often spend winter months in tropical destinations, chasing new inspiration.

I’m drawn to the soft, golden light of sunrise and sunset, there’s something magical about that warm glow that adds depth and emotion to my images. This natural light has become an essential part of my storytelling.

My work is shaped by the people I meet and the places I visit. Whether it's the raw energy of surf culture, the quiet intimacy of a couple’s story, or the joyful connections within families, I focus on creating images that feel honest and timeless.
